The original line was built in 1870 by the "Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway", later (no date) that line became part of the "Chicago. Rock Island and Pacific Railway" until 1980 when the company declared bankruptcy.

In 1981 a short service started and operation expanded until in 1984 the "Iowa Northern Railway" bought the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific" estate for 5.4 million dollars.

Their website says that they operate over 253 miles of tracks, own 12 locomotives and 450 cover grains hoppers. U think they own more than railroad cars than that since in my picture collection I have pictures of box cars belonging to them….

Leur site web mentionne que cette compagnie opère 407 km de voies ferrée; possède une douzaine de locomotives et 450 wagons trémie couvert. Je crois qu'ils possèdent plus de matériel roulant car dans ma collection de photo j'ai des wagons couverts avec leur nom.
